How to Use the reFoundation Study
The reFoundation Bible Study is originally written as a guide for someone to take a learner through the series. It has been reformatted to enable the learner to go through the study by himself or herself. It is nonetheless still helpful, to have someone in your life to guide you through the study. If you are not able to find someone in your local church to support you, please write us and we will attempt to find a guide for you.
Tools I need
First, have a Bible, a notebook, and a pen ready. It's worth investing in a paper-printed Bible, where you will be flipping through the pages. This process gives you the visuals of where different books are located, enables you to underline texts, and in a small way, serves as a physical connection in your relationship with God.
The studies are designed to have you look up the scriptures and discover the meaning of the Bible verse yourself. It also focuses on practical applications. For this reason, you need a notebook to write down what you are learning, what it means to you, and how you intend to apply the knowledge. You can also write down questions or even doubts, which you can, and should, explore further.
Practical tips
When we read the Bible, we are opening ourselves to hearing from God. It is a very personal and bonding space in your relationship with him. The study series intentionally do not write out the scriptures so that you can look up each and every one of the Bible verses yourself. Always pray before each you read to have an open mind and open heart to hear from God.
There are many questions in the study to engage critical thinking and promote deeper personal reflection. This is an important spiritual discipline that will help you to grow spiritually for the rest of your life. Do not rush through the study, Take the time to allow God to speak to you through his Words.
If you have a guide, or someone who has already been through the studies, schedule an appointment after you complete a study. In this appointment, first give them an overview of what you have learned, then teach back the studies.
